Change of collection methods of school lunch expences

From April, to incorporate the school lunch expences  into public accounting system, school lunch expences will be collected by the city instead of the schools. Please set up the account transer following the notice you received in February.

To the guardians of new elementary school entrants,  the procedure will be informed through schools in April.

July to March 2026

※In early June, annual and monthly amount of school lunch expences will be notified.

Subsidy for Schooling and Education Expense scheme

For the household in financially challenged situation with children attending public elementary and junior high schools in Kashiwa city, we offer the subsidy for schooling and education expenses. Once qualified, school lunch expense is exempted, and in addition cost of school supplies and school excursion trip expenses will be partially supported.

Partial support payment for purchasing  bicycle safety helmet

It is the obligation to make efforts to wear the safety helmet when riding a bicycle. Partial support payment for purchasing a safety helmet is offered to promote the awareness of wearing a safety helmet.

Eligibility

For those who satisfy all the following criteria ▶withthe registered address in Kashiwa city as of the datewhen purchasing a safety helmet▶not in arrears ofmunicipal tax

Applicable Safety helmet

Helmets which satisfy all the following criteria▶brand new▶purchased later than 1st April 2025▶satisfying safety criteria such as SG mark certification

Amount of support payment

Maximum of 2,000 yen ※one helmet per person

Application periods

From 1st April (Tuesday) to 28th February (Saturday) 2026

※When the budget is reached, acceptance ends.

Plan to get vaccinated

Some diseases which children can get easily affected are prevented by getting vaccinated. Please consider scheduling the vaccination following the list in the Vaccination Logbook which you receive before your child  becoming 2 months old. You will be receiving the notice letter for the vaccination after the start of schooling in accordance with the applicable vaccination age. Please try to keep in mind to get your child vaccinated.

Get vaccinated against shingles with partial support payment for vaccination fee for the elderly

Shingles is a disease caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus due to a weakened immune system or ageing. When it develops, the body feels pain, rash and blisters spread in red bands, and the pain may persist for months or years after the disease has healed. 

Support payment for the cost of vaccination is offered. Please be reminded that by getting vaccinated, it can prevent the onset and save you from the condition getting aggravated.

●Notice will be sent out to the eligible people by 31st  March (Monday).

If you consider getting the vaccination, please read the content and make a booking for the vaccination.

Eligibility

Anybody with the registered address in Kashiea city as of the date of vaccination and with no vaccinated record of shingles before satisfying any of the following criteria.

▶turning into 65,70,75,80,85,90,95,100 years old during the period from 1st April to 31st March 2026 ▶100 years old and older ▶60~64 years old with Immune dysfunction due to human immunodeficiency virus, grade 1 equivalent.

Relocation of emergency shelters due to the closure of Shonan Community center

For the safety of the users first, Shonan Community Center  (Himawari Plaza) will be closing on 31st March (Monday) due to the deterioration and arising needs for enhanced earthquake-resistance. 

From now on, the facility cannot be used as a shelter. Kazahaya Hokubu area Iki-iki center will continue its operation in the relocated facility. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation for the  inconveniences.
