Contact: Disaster Prevention and Safety Division – Phone: 7167-1115, Fax: 7163-2188
2:46pm on March 11, 2011. What were you doing at that time, 10 years ago? The Great East Japan Earthquake shook all areas across East Japan, the tsunami brought widespread losses, and Kashiwa City was also significantly affected.
The lessons learned from 3.11 must not be forgotten. We need to think about how we can make a habit of staying prepared for the next big earthquake.

If an evacuation is necessary
If you can safely shelter at home, that is always the best course of action. However, if you are concerned that the building is unsafe during an earthquake, you should evacuate to a safe place. The evacuation areas have countermeasures in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19, such as the availability of hand disinfectant and building ventilation, as well as the request for everyone to wear a mask.
You can put things you have at home in one place to get ready for an emergency!
It takes time to find what you need when an earthquake has created a mess in your house, leading to a dangerous situation if aftershocks continue. Keep a bag of emergency items in your front entrance, or other location where you can easily grab it and go.
Use the Hazard Map to check the location of evacuation areas and evacuation routes.
