Kashiwa City National Health Insurance Specific Health Checks

Specific health checks help to prevent lifestyle-related diseases. In the city, people who are 40 years of age and older, and enrolled in National Health Insurance are eligible to receive specific health checks. However, the percentage of people between 40 and 50 years of age who have the health checks done, even within the prefecture, is still low. If you have not yet received your specific health check, there are still 2 months left in the health check period (until January 31 of next year).  Please be sure to have your health check done.

If you become sick...

There are many reasons why people do not have a health check done. One of those reasons is the idea that when you are healthy, a health check is unnecessary. However, lifestyle-related diseases start to become more prevalent in our 40's. Heart attack and stroke, and chronic kidney failure; when health conditions are allowed to become worse, the toll on your body, and the effect on your lifestyle can be very serious.

Kidney function can be determined by eGFR

In the city, since the 2014 fiscal year, the eGFR (the flow rate of filtered fluid through the kidneys) can be calculated to check your kidney function, with serum creatinine (a byproduct of the kidneys) measurement, along with your age and gender. From this data, a future decline in kidney function can be predicted.

If you have not had your health check yet, please have it done as soon as possible

At the end of May, health check tickets are sent out to people who are 40 years of age and older, and enrolled in National Health Insurance. For information such as how to apply, please see the details provided in the enclosed guide, or visit the city homepage. If you are enrolled in other health insurance, please contact your insurance provider.

<Early detection for those who are under 40 years of age>
In the city, health checks where Health Services tickets can be used are also being done for those who are 18 to 39 years of age, and enrolled in National Health Insurance.
End of health check period: Sunday, January 31 of next year
Cost: 9,050 yen ※Up to 8,000 yen is covered by the city.
Application: After you have applied for Health Services tickets (Hoken-Jigyo-Riyo-Ken), please contact the Health Insurance and Pension Division by phone.

You could be the one to save a child - November is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Contact: Child Welfare Division - Phone: 7167-1458
Child abuse and bullying has a serious effect on a child's formative years and growth. We need everyone to work together along with efforts of the administration to create an environment where each and every child can be brought up with abundance and hope.
◆Let's watch over the children around us
Take an interest in the households with children nearby. Casually say "hello" from time to time, and help to support child-raising in your community.
◆Don't keep your worries or concerns to yourself
Worries about child-raising or family problems, a sense of isolation in the community, your own childhood experiences and upbringing...these are all problems or sources of stress that are shouldered by parents or guardians, and which can be related to child abuse. Before this stress falls on the child, make your SOS call without reservations or self-consciousness.
◆If you suspect child abuse, make a call
If you suspect child abuse is taking place based on the appearance or circumstances of the child or guardian, please call for help. Your actions could be the first step in saving the the child and guardian.
