Special Harvest Festival Premium Gift Certificates on sale for Michi-no-eki Shonan and Kashiwa-de markets

Premium Gift Certificates that can be used at the Michi-no-eki Shonan and Kashiwa-de markets for a 2-month period starting in October will be on sale to go along with the harvest festival time.
Details: 1 set (gift certificates with a value of 1,400 yen) will be sold for 1,000 yen. ※Up to 10 sets per person. Gift certificates cannot be used at the Michi-no-eki Shonan restaurant.
Validity: Thursday, October 1 to Monday, November 30.
Availability: About 5,000 sets will be available for sale on a first-come, first-served basis.
Date of Sales and Locations: Sales will be done according to the timetable below (Sales will start from 9:00am at Kashiwa-de, and from 9:30am at Michi-no-eki Shonan)

What is the Harvest Festival?

○October 4: Michi-no-eki Shonan
○November 7 and 8: Kashiwa-de
The Harvest Festival is an agricultural event to showcase items such as fresh vegetables and rice that have been harvested in the fall. You can also enjoy tempting dishes prepared on-the-spot at the food stalls, and you'll have a chance to talk to the farmers themselves. Be sure to take the opportunity to use the Premium Gift Certificates, and enjoy Kashiwa's plentiful fall fare.

Time: Sunday, September 27, 11:30 am to 3:30 pm
Location: The Howdy Mall shopping street in front of Kashiwa Station, and the Family Hiroba Plaza at the Kashiwa Station east exit.
Details: There will be a showcase and introduction of Kashiwa's sister cities and friendship city associations, a folk dance performance, as well as international foods and small items for sale.

For residents of the old Kashiwa Areas, part of the household garbage collection service will be privatized

Starting on Thursday, October 1, in addition to city-operated garbage collection, part of the household garbage collection service will be operated by a private company.
○The garbage separation/disposal method and collection dates will not be changed!
Please be sure to have your garbage set out in the collection area by 8:30 am on the assigned collection day as you have been doing up until this point in time. (Collection times may change in some cases)

Don't forget to get your children ready to enter school

Starting school for those entering schools outside their school area

 For those who will be entering elementary school or junior high school in April of next year, and who wish to enter a school other than their designated school (outside of their school district), please check the following information before starting your application (For those who will be entering their designated school, please check the school entrance notice (Nyu-Gaku Tsuchi-sho) that will be sent out at the end of September).
 The entrance of schools outside of your district will only be permitted in special situations such as moving to a new home, a mental or physical reason, or if the parent or guardian has a reason relating to employment circumstances. Furthermore, admission is limited in some schools.
The application period may differ depending on the school you have chosen for your child to enter.
1.Schools which cannot accept admission
 ▶Elementary Schools: Kashiwa-Ichi, Kashiwa-Ni, Fujigokoro, Yutaka, Asahi-Higashi, Kazahaya-Hokubu, Takayanagi, Takayanagi-Nishi, and Kashiwanoha
 ▶Junior High Schools: Kashiwa and Takayanagi
 ※If the child's elder brother or sister is enrolled at the school as of April 1 of next year, they may apply for admission (not including Kashiwanoha Elementary)
 Application Period: Thursday, October 1 to Friday, October 30
2.Schools which have limited acceptance
 ▶Elementary Schools: Kashiwa-San, Kashiwa-Yon, Kashiwa-Go, Hikarigaoka, Tanaka, Asahi, Sakaine-Higashi, Matsuba-Ni, and Toyofuta
 ▶Junior High Schools: Kashiwa-Ni, Kashiwa-Go, Hikarigaoka, Nakahara, and Toyoshiki
 Application Period: From Thursday, October 1 to Friday, October 30
 ※If there are more applicants than the allowable number of enrollment spaces, an open draw will be held. Results of the draw will available on Friday, November 13 on the city homepage, or at the Schools and Education Division (Shonan Building, 2nd Floor)
3.Schools other than those listed in 1. and 2.
Application Period: Thursday, October 1 to Friday, January 29 of next year.

※Applications cannot be accepted at the City Hall main building, the Kashiwa Eki-Mae Administrative Service Center, or other branch offices. Applicants must be the parent, legal guardian or a relative of the child who will be enrolled in the school.
What to bring: If the reason you are applying to the school is moving to a new residence, please bring documents which show the address of your new residence.
Notification of acceptance: Once your application to enter a school outside of your district is accepted, you will be notified by the school outside of your district through a notice of acceptance.
Other: If you apply by Friday, October 30, you can change the school where the School Entrance Health Check is performed. However, if you wish to enroll your child at one of the schools listed in 2., you will need to have the health check done at your designated school.

School Entrance Health Checks

Health checks will be held starting from November for those who are scheduled to enter elementary school in April of next year. At the end of September, a notice for the health check will be sent to the parents or guardians of those who are eligible. After confirming the schedule and location, please have the health check done. Please contact us if you do not receive a health check notice.
Time period: Scheduled days in November
Location: The elementary school where the child is scheduled to enter.
Eligibility: Those who were born between April 2, 2009, and April 1, 2010.
What to bring: The health check notice (Kenko-Shindan no Tsuchi-Sho), indoor shoes, and clothing that can be put on and taken off easily.

Tega-Higashi Elementary School, a small-scale special school, is accepting new applicants

Tega-Higashi Elementary School offers a unique kind of education with careful guidance that can only be done in a school with a small number of students, and activities that draw on the special features of the area. If you would like to have your child study in this kind of environment, we would like you to consider making use of this system.
Eligibility: Those who are residents of this city, and who meet all of the following requirements. ▶Those who approve of, and are willing to cooperate with the educational activities of a small-scale special school. ▶Those who are able to have an interview with the school principal before applying. ▶Parents or guardians who can take on the responsibility of providing safe transportation to and from school, through public transportation, or by taking the child to and from school. ▶Those who can, as a rule, attend the school continuously until graduation.
Application: Apply in person at the Schools and Education Division (Shonan Building, 2nd Floor) between Thursday, October 1, and Friday, October 30.

Temporary closure of the Kashiwa Eki-Mae Administrative Service Center, and the Kashiwanoha Service Corner

On Saturday, October 3, both facilities will be closed all day for system improvements, and all business will be suspended.

Please make sure you have received your National Health Insurance Certificate (Health Insurance Card)

In July, the renewed health insurance cards effective on August 1 were sent out by registered mail. If you have not received your health insurance card, you will need to complete an application process.
How to receive your card: ▶Reception Desk: Please bring photo identification issued by an official institution, and apply in person at the Health Insurance and Pension Division (Hoken Nenkin Ka) on the 1st floor of the city hall, main building. ▶Re-issue by mail: Please contact the Insurance and Pension Division.
Other: For those who have entered health insurance through social insurance, or other means, bring both your workplace health insurance card and your national health insurance card to one of the following locations to complete your withdrawal process; Health Insurance and Pension Division, Reception Desk Service Division (Shonan Building, 1st Floor), branch offices, or the Kashiwa Eki-Mae Administrative Service Center.
