Preparations for new students starting school

Enrolling in a school outside the designated school district

If you are intending to enroll your child who is scheduled to start elementary or junior high school in April of next year in a school outside the designated school district, you need to request the intention to the division. You will be informed of the designated school in the notice letter of enrollment that will be sent to you in mid-September. Approval for enrolling in a school outside the designated school district will only be granted for special reasons such as definite plan to move to a new residence in the requesting school district.

Schools not accepting the enrollment from outside the school district

▶Elementary schools = Kashiwa Ichi, Kashiwa San, Hikarigaoka, Tanaka, Tanaka-Kita, Yutaka, Asahi-Higashi, Matsuba Ichi, Takayanagi, Kashiwanoha

▶Junior High Schools = Kashiwa Ni, Tanaka, Takayanagi, Kashiwanoha

※In case of your child has an older brother or sister attending the school as of 1st of April next year, or your child is already attending elementary school in outside the designated school district and wishes to enroll in a junior high school in the same district after graduation, you may apply for enrollment between 15th September (Friday) and 13th October (Friday).

※If the number of applicants exceeds the availability, enrollment will be selected by draw. The results of the draw will be available on 31st October (Tuesday) on the homepage of Kashiwa City.

What to bring

If you wish to make the application because of your plan to move, bring a document that shows your new address. (Copies of documents such as the construction certificate, purchase or rental contract will be accepted.)

Notification of results

Once the application for enrollment in a school outside the designated school district is granted, the Schools and Education Division will send a notice of enrollment for the school.

Medical check-up for starting school

Children enrolling in the first year at the elementary school in April of next year will have medical check-up.

Please confirm the details on the letter of notice for medical check-up enclosed with the letter of notice for school enrollment sent out in mid-September and have the check-up done. Please contact the division if you do not receive the letter of notice.

Closure of Youth Center. Closure of shelter facility.  Last day is 30th September (Saturday)

Youth center (Toyofuta 313-92) will be closed to refurbish the General support center for children and the young (tentative name) which will have the facility as child consultation center and youth center. We appreciate your understanding.

Due to the closure, it cannot be used as shelter and evacuation site

After the closure of the Youth center, please use the shelters and evacuation sites near your house.  When General Support Center for Children and the young (tentative name) opens in 2026, it is planned to be available as the shelter and evacuation site.

Additional COVID-19 vaccination starts on 20th September (Wednesday)

Anybody with initial vaccination (1st and 2nd) done can have the additional vaccination with the vaccine ticket already sent out to you at the listed medical institutes. Information sent out before 22nd August (Tuesday) is information for the Spring vaccination. Please check the updates on the homepage of Kashiwa city.

Open for everyone.  General emergency and disaster prevention training

 It has been 100 years since the Great Kanto Earthquake.  In co-operation with relevant organizations, we will hold general emergency and disaster prevention training assuming the severe damage due to the Kashiwa inland earthquake. Why don’t you participate the training drill to prepare for the emergency?

Shakeout training, evacuation drill, various exhibits and experience of disaster prevention

※Shakeout training is to learn the 3 safety actions (Drop, Cover, and Hold on) you should take in initial 1 minute.

Drop (lower yourself), Cover (cover the head and body to protect from any falling items), and Hold on (until the shake subsides).
