1st September, Disaster Prevention Day— Be prepared for a disaster

We do not know where or when an earthquake will occur. In order to protect yourself and your family from a disaster, it is important to prepare ahead of time.

Be cautious everyday

 

Prepare the survival pack at home and other places

Prepare the survival pack of foods and water, portable radio, maps, walking shoes, torch and etc., at not only home but also other places such as work-places.

Check in advance your route going home in disaster situation

Please discuss amongst the family, how to check the safety of the family members when contact is not established, where to assemble, and the routes coming home.

What to do if you are out When it happens,

 

Protect yourself first

In case of earthquake, protect yourself first from any falling or collapsing objects by staying under the desk, and wait until it is safe to move.

 

Do not panic.  Stay in a safe place and then check the safety of the family member

Even after the tremor, do not start move around instantly. Stay where it is safe and then check the safety of the family member.

Preparations for new students starting school

Enrolling a schools outside of your designated school area   

If your child is scheduled to start elementary or junior high school in April of next year, and you would like to enroll your child in a school outside of your designated school area (an elementary or junior high school other than the one that has been designated for your child), please confirm the following information, and then complete the application form. (You will be informed of the designated school in the notice of enrollment that will be sent to you in mid-September.) Approval for entering a school outside of your designated area will only be granted for special reasons such as plans to move to a new residence in the new school area. At this time, some schools have limitations on enrollment. The time period for application procedures may also be different depending on the school that you would like your child to enter.

 

1 Schools that do not accept enrollment from outside the school area

▶Elementary schools = Kashiwa Dai-Ichi, Kashiwa Dai-San, Hikarigaoka, Tanaka, Tanaka-Kita, Yutaka, Asahi-Higashi, Matsuba Dai-Ichi, Takayanagi, Kashiwanoha

▶Junior High Schools = Kashiwa Dai-Ni, Takayanagi, Kashiwanoha

*If your child has an older brother or sister enrolled at the school as of April 1st of next year (not including Kashiwanoha Elementary and Junior High School), or if your child is already attending elementary school in an outside school district and wishes to move on to junior high school in the same district after graduation, you may apply for enrollment between Thursday, September 15 and Friday, October 14.

*If the number of applicants exceeds the number of enrollment spaces available, enrollment will be selected by draw. The results of the draw will be available on Monday, October 31 on the Kashiwa City website.

▶if your child is already attending elementary school in an outside school district and wishes to move on to junior high school in the same district after graduation

Please complete the required parts of the application form, and mail it to postal code 277-8503, Kashiwa City Board of Education, Schools and Education Division. The application form can be downloaded from the Kashiwa City website.

Others

Applications must be made in person at the Schools and Education Division (Shonan Building, 2nd Floor) by the child’s parent or guardian, or by a relative.

 

 

Notification of results

Once the application for enrollment in a school outside of your district is accepted, the Schools and Education Division will send you a notice of enrollment for that school.

 Health check-up for starting school 

Health check-ups will be done for children who will be entering elementary school in April of next year. Health check-up notices will be included with the notices for school enrollment sent out in mid-September. Please confirm the schedule and location of your child’s health check-up, and have the check-up done. Please contact us if you do not receive a notice in the mail.

The completed health check-up questionnaire, your Maternal and Child Health Handbook, a pen or pencil, indoor shoes, and a shoe bag.

▶Please make sure the child has finished lunch, and come to the health check-up location within the reception hours.

▶The child and parent or guardian must be together when waiting in line, and going to the reception desk.

▶Make sure the child is dressed in clothing on his or her upper body that he or she can put on and take off unassisted.

▶Coming by car will not be permitted.

One-time cash payment for resident-tax exempt household

 Closing date for one-time Cash payment of 100.000 yen per household to support households experiencing financial difficulty due to the COVID-19 is coming soon. Please proceed to apply if you are eligible.

Any household with either condition

▶①Average of the resident-tax of all members in the household is a entitled for exemption

▶②Any member of the household above (①) has moved into Kashiwa after 11th Dec 2021(Reiwa 3nen)

▶③Due to the COVID-19, dropped income after Jan 2022(Reiwa 4nen) is almost equivalent to the income level for the resident-tax exempt.

Support benefit payment for pensioners

People who are receiving a pension and have a low income will be paid an additional support benefit for pensioners.  Starting from September, the Japan Pension Service will begin sending out information about the application process to people who newly qualify for support as of April 1, 2022. Please check the information and apply.

▶65 years of age or older

▶All household members are exempt from municipal tax

▶Total income including pension income and income from other sources is 881,200 yen or less.

 

People who are receiving a Basic Disability Pension or Surviving Family Member's Pension

Those whose income amount from the previous year was 4,721,000 or less

Wednesday, January 4 of next year

If your application process is completed by the deadline, you can receive the support benefit payment starting from the October 2022 payment period.
