Information regarding the new coronavirus (COVID-19)
Contact: Public Information Division - Phone: 7167-1175, Fax: 7167-8289
In Kashiwa City, we are working to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We have established headquarters for countermeasures against the new coronavirus, and a call center to deal with issues related to the virus. In this issue, we will share questions that the city administration has received, and information regarding the virus.
This information is current as of April 22.
Q&A regarding the new coronavirus (COVID-19)
(Q1) I’ve heard that there is a benefit of 100,000 yen available. Where can I learn more about this?
A: Starting on April 30, the Kashiwa City Basic Necessities Support Benefit Call Center (Phone: 7168-9677) will be open. Once the application method has been decided, more information will be provided on the Kashiwa City website, and through Koho Kashiwa.
(Q2) I don’t really have any symptoms, but I’m worried that I have contracted the virus. Can I get a PCR coronavirus test
A: The Kashiwa City consultation center for people with potential exposure to the new coronavirus and medical facilities will confer to determine the necessity of a test based on the patient’s symptoms, etc. A test will be done if it is deemed necessary. If you are concerned, please call the Kashiwa City consultation center for people with potential exposure to the new coronavirus.
(Q3) After I wrap my used mask in a plastic bag, how should I dispose of it?
A: If you put your used mask in a plastic bag, please dispose of it with the “Combustible Garbage” (for both Kashiwa and Shonan areas).
(Q4) I would like to submit some applications at the city hall, but I am concerned about going outside. What should I do?
A: Some applications and administrative processes at the city hall can also be done by mail or though the internet. In addition, the deadlines have been extended for city taxes, such as Municipal Tax and Property Tax. Please check the city website, or call the office that is responsible for the application in question.

(Q5) We have been asked to reduce contact with other people by 80%. Is there anything I should be careful of in my day-to-day routine?
A: Please reduce the number of people you come into contact with as much as possible. For example, when you go to the supermarket to buy groceries, don’t bring your whole family. Reduce the number of people going out together. By reducing contact with other people by 80%, it is estimated that results can be seen after one month. However, if we are only able to reduce contact by 70% or less, it is predicted that results will not be seen until after three months. Please consider whether or not your errand is absolutely necessary before you decide to go outside.
(Q6) I suddenly got a phone call from someone saying that I could get a subsidy related to COVID-19, and that someone would be coming to my house, so I should get my inkan (name stamp) and bank book ready. What should I do?
A: The city hall and other public institutions will most definitely not ask for bank account information or other personal information over the phone. Recently, there have been cases of fraudulent phone calls and door-to-door canvassing that take advantage of the COVID-19 situation. Information regarding the new coronavirus, COVID-19, that claims to be “money-saving,” “germ-fighting” or “providing virus tests” is fraudulent information. If you receive this kind of phone call, first of all, please call the Consumer Life Center Consultation Hotline (7164-4100) for advice.
(Q7) I would like to have fast, up-to-date information from the city. Where should I look?
A: On the Kashiwa City website, up-to-date information is published as it becomes available. Information is also provided by the Kashiwa E-mail Distribution Service. Register by sending a blank e-mail to kashiwacity@emp.ikkr.jp , and select the categories of information you would like to receive, such as “Disaster Information” and “Disaster Prevention and Safety Information”.
